Cognitive Aptitude

Cognitive aptitude refers to an individual’s ability to understand information, grasp things quickly and apply new ideas to solve problems. Cognitive aptitude encompasses various intellectual skills rolled together. These mental competencies include memory, attention, perception, visual and spatial processing, and other brain functions such as decision making, problem-solving and cognitive flexibility.

A cognitive aptitude test is designed to help measure a person’s ability to think on his/her feet, make meaning of ambiguity and formulate new concepts when faced with novel information. It includes questioning assumptions, making fair and accurate evaluations and identifying and focusing on relevant information when deriving conclusions. Cognitive aptitude tests are an efficient and consistent means of measuring talent.
