Cognitive Ability

Cognitive ability can be defined as a person’s general intelligence. In other words, cognitive ability refers to the brain’s ability to carry out core tasks such as thinking, memorizing, paying attention, visualizing and interpreting surroundings. Together, these skills form Crystallized Intelligence and Fluid Intelligence in a person, which constitutes an individual’s cognitive ability.

Cognitive ability is generally regarded as a valuable predictor of job performance as it helps understand training’s positive impact. It is so because cognitive ability showcases two of the most critical competencies required to perform well in any job. It includes the ability to learn and absorb information and apply that learning to solve problems and take prompt actions. An increase in job performance is directly linked to high cognitive ability.
