Mercer| Mettl's administrative assistant test is a comprehensive functional and aptitude test designed to assess the skills of a candidate applying for an administrative assistant role. It starts with testing the basic computer literacy of the candidate, followed by evaluating the candidate’s ability to work with Microsoft Word, using features of editing, formatting and proofreading. It then measures the candidate’s ability to handle basic and intermediate level excel, including knowledge of basic functions, filters, formulae and pivots. The test also measures the communication skills as well as the writing ability of the candidate. Finally, it also evaluates candidates' analytical and problem-solving skills by measuring their general aptitude.

Administrative staff supports business leaders by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, preparing meeting notes, conducting research and preparing statistical reports. They also provide administrative support by scheduling meetings, compiling employee information and maintaining records. This administrative assistant assessment has been designed to evaluate the proficiency of candidates for taking up this role, ascertaining their ability to perform these duties to ensure a suitable fit.
